    Soy Milk

    Soy milk, also referred to as soya milk, soy juice or soyabean milk, is one of the various soy products available. This beverage can be prepared at home with the help of soy milk machine or some kitchen tools. One easy way to make it is by soaking soybeans and then grinding them with water. This liquid is then strained, which in turn gives soy milk.

     

    Soy milk was initially used as an alternative to cow and buffalo milk, by the people who had to follow a milk allergy diet for their milk allergy or lactose intolerance. Today, a lot of people who do not suffer from lactose intolerance, are switching over to soy milk, just to reap the benefits derived from it.

     

    The first and foremost benefit of soy milk is that it does not contain lactose and can thus be consumed by anybody. The second benefit is that it does not contain any kinds of complex fats. The amount of fat present in the soy milk is almost the same as that present on animal milk. However, in case of soy milk the fat is digested more easily and is thus not stored in the body. People who consume rather generous quantities of milk every day, religiously throughout the year, always face the risk of calcium loss through the kidneys. This loss is reduced with the consumption of soy milk. One of the major ingredients of soy milk are preprebiotic sugars that facilitate the detoxification of organs and also boost the immunity to most of the common diseases. One of the benefits of soy milk that makes it a highly consumed beverage, by a huge population of people across the world, is that it contains very low, almost negligible cholesterol volumes. Another very good advantage of soy milk is that, it also tends to reduce the fat, which comes in through the consumption oil and animal fat. The normal milk of cows and buffaloes contains the hormones of the animal. Though hormones are quite harmless, they do contribute to body fat.

     

    Excessive consumption of milk sometimes causes diabetes in the long run, which is only controlled by insulin administration and other types of medication. On the other hand, consumption of soy milk does not result in diabetes, because the amount of sugar and fat in soy milk is low. Soy milk has more fibers in it, and this is very healthy for the digestive system.

     

    The soy milk available in the market contains added calcium and vitamins. These added nutrients can cause organic soy milk dangers, which in the long run can cause a lot of internal damage to the person consuming it. In order to give it a milky appearance, it is mixed with oil, water, sugar, stabilizer, etc. Many people opt for different flavors of soy milk, like vanilla and chocolate flavor.

     

    However, dangers of soy milk are more prominent in people who consume it very often in large amounts. High phytic acids result in low absorption of certain minerals and vitamins. High phytoestrogen decreases the testesterone present in the male body, affects the production of sperms, and leads to early puberty and early developments of adolescents.

     

    In females, soy milk can lead to abnormalities in the reproductive tract, which can give rise to infertility. Isoflavones present in soy milk causes diseases like leukemia and breast cancer, and thyroid disorders like hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer. Soy milk can also contribute to endometrial cancer in females.

     

    The presence of toxic aluminum in soy milk can also affect the nervous system and the kidneys in a negative way. In some cases, it also causes dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, colitis and may increase or decrease the pulse rate. Very often, soy milk causes runny nose and nasal congestion. Some of the soy milk dangers for children are learning disorders, attention deficit disorder, dyslexia, etc. It can also cause pancreatic and growth related problems. At times, the amount of manganese present in soy milk is large enough to cause damage to the cortex. This can also develop allergies like congestion, coughing, sneezing, etc. in some people. It also contributes to skin problems like sudden and severe eczema, acne, blisters, canker sores, swelling and hives. In severe cases, it can also cause a problem in swallowing and can also cause anaphylactic shock. Soy milk can also affect the energy levels and sleep. Wheezing, fatigue and fever are the other symptoms observed as a reaction to soy milk. The protein enzyme inhibitors present in soy milk, block the action of trypsin and enzymes required for protein digestion. In some cases, it can give rise to chronic pain. Mostly, people suffering from asthma are prone to this kind of disorders. If soy milk is consumed in large amounts, it can lead to stomach problems. The soy milk estrogen is harmful for babies.

     

    Everything in this world comes along with its pros and cons and so does soy milk. Hence, before consuming soy milk, we should consider both, its dangers as well as it benefits. It is very important to consume soy milk in limited quantities. Over-consumption is bound to have side effects, many of which are not yet known. It is better to be cautious.
